EZ Orchards Roman Beauty

by | Oct 7, 2015

EZ Orchards‘ ciders and perry are products of simple means—fruit from the fifth-generation family orchard in Salem, Oregon, naturally occurring yeasts that ferment the crushed apples and months-long maturation in bottle. Other than subtle sulfite usage, the only ingredients in cidermaker Kevin Zielinski’s ciders are apples.

A unbridled and true expression to the fruit from the family farm, one of the latest examples from EZ Orchards is the Roman Beauty, a cider built on the heirloom apple variety of the same name that the Zielinskis have been growing since they incorporated the farm in 1929. Blended with the bittersweet Yarlington Mill cider variety and the crisp, juicy Granny Smith, this cider transports the drinker to the historic orchard and its bounty of crops. Earthy with sweet hay funk, dusty apple skin aromas and whiffs of tart apple pie fill the glass from the nose to the flavors, as shaping acid tickles and creamy, golden apple fruit fleshes out the palate.
