Vermont Cider Week Returns Friday

by | Nov 11, 2014

As part of the East Coast cider week surge of the harvest season, Vermont steps in to showcase their cideries, connecting the cider makers to the trade and the consumer from November 14-23 for Vermont Cider Week. The Green Mountain State offers this time while its cideries are in the full swing of harvest and production so that all can join in on the process, and join in on the “hard cider revival.”

Events range from the “Chuck-N Wing Night!” (featuring chicken wings sauced in a spicy, cider glaze made from Woodchuck Cider) and a kickoff party at Citizen Cider to a slow food pairing dinner at Eden Ice Cider and in-store tastings, intuitive classes, bar meet-and-greets, pairings and more across the state. With more than 60 events happening over the course of nine days, cider lovers are in for a treat.

You like oysters? Try them with a Windfall cider. You like learning? Talk apples and taste cider with James Beard Award-winning author Rowan Jacobsen, and discusses his joint efforts with Shacksbury Cider in their Lost Apple Project to revive old heirloom cider apples in Vermont. Want to meet the makers? Shake hands with several at Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier, Vermont, for a tap-takeover.

With 15 cideries coming out with apples shined and guns a’blazing, get a taste of Vermont cider in its most natural state.
