North Carolina’s First CiderFest Returns

by | Oct 27, 2014

By Leesy Latronica

On paper, the first CiderFest NC event began as a modest fall fundraiser. But when word spread that North Carolina would be hosting its first hard cider tasting festival, the concept quickly ballooned into a sold out destination for the whole family, drawing in more than 400 attendees in 2013.

On Sunday, November 2, CiderFest NC returns to downtown Asheville for an afternoon packed with regional tastings, local cheese and bread pairings, live bluegrass tunes, apple press demonstrations, a hard cider making panel (attention, aspiring home brewers!) and a small dose of friendly cider competition. Rain or shine, wrap the family in matching scarves, snack on the season’s fresh harvest and paint a few more pumpkins to add to the front stoop.

Expect to taste through offerings from fellow hometown cider gurus, including Noble Cider, CIDERCRAFT‘s recently featured cidery in our new Cider Made profile column. Round out Halloween weekend with a collection of popular and up-and-coming southern and East Coast cideries, and toast to the season that yields all that apple goodness.
