Spring is finally here and what better way to celebrate the changing of the seasons with a little cider? April is full of cider events in the PNW that are the perfect excuse to hit the road for a bit of a weekend excursion or if you live close by then even a better reason to check out these events.
Cider Rite of Spring 2019
Portland, OR | April 6
Celebrate spring with this event dedicated to highlighting the cidermakers of the PNW. Over 100 ciders will be available to taste from some 35 cideries. Turn the weekend into a quick getaway if you’re not a local Portlander and explore everything that the Rose City has to offer. General admission tickets for the event will get you eight drink tickets and a glassware to commemorate the weekend with. If you’re feeling like eight drink tickets just won’t do it then you can grab a VIP ticket for twice the price which will get you 12 drink tickets, early access to the ciders and the VIP lounge.
Cider Summit
San Francisco, CA | April 13
If you’ve never been to the Presidio in San Francisco then there’s really no better time to change that. The Cider Summit will hit the City by the Bay and welcome cider lovers to come and taste over 150 ciders, cider cocktails and apple spirits. Seattle Cider Co. will be releasing a special Cider Summit collaboration at the event (to also be featured at the upcoming Cider Summits this year) and there will be a cider cocktail lounge and selected food pairings. Get yourself a ticket now rather than later to save a few bucks, you have the choice between a standard general admission and a VIP ticket which will get you access to exclusive things plus a few more drink tickets.
Cider Fest
Hood River, OR | April 20
Bring the whole family to this fun cider affair which will have live music, food vendors and a kids area so that everyone can have a good time. This cider fest is focused on highlighting the makers of the Hood River Valley, of which there will be some 25 of them represented at the event. Attendees will have access to over 50 ciders on tap and with the cost of general admission you’ll be able to try five of them right off the bat. Those under 21 enter for free and if you aren’t that big of a cider person but you’ve got a loved one who is, then you can still get entrance to the fest minus the drink tickets for a few bucks less.
BC Cider Week
Throughout British Columbia | April 27- May 5
Back for another year, BC Cider Week is turning it up. Kick the week off with the Sea Cider Social near Victoria, check out the grand opening of Tod Creek Cidery‘s tasting room on Vancouver Island and hit up the Okanagan Cider Fest (the Vancouver Cider Fest is already sold out!). If you happen to be a fan of bacon as well then you’ll want to reserve Friday for the Bacon and Cider Fest in Kelowna. Craft cideries will pour samples of their flagship ciders while students of the Okanagan College Culinary Arts will prepare bacon-inspired dishes for you to chow down on. There’s something for everyone during this week long cider extravaganza.
