With a careful attention to dry and off-dry, Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider of Portland, Ore., showcases the full flavors of Pacific Northwest apples from Willamette Valley, Yakima Valley and Hood River areas. Of their year round cider varieties, the Revelation Newton Pippin particularly speaks to a hot summer day.
Fresh from the bottle, Newtown Pippin pours a clear white yellow with some bubbles and a hint of green. Featuring just one apple—the Newtown Pippin—this single varietal has a slightly sweet aroma, a mild yeast up front, and finishes with a crisp, tart taste with light acidity, true to it’s heirloom apple namesake. While not as complex and intrepid as some of the other offerings from Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider (like his sour cherry cider with lactobacillus or the traditional pineapple tepache), the Newtown Pippin is balanced, summery, and easy on the mouth.
