It’s been said that Thomas Jefferson once played in the fields here as a young child. Castle Hill in Keswick, Virginia has been welcoming an array of guests throughout history since it first opened in 1764. The remarkable venue carries Old World charm throughout the entire property, which includes apple orchards and a lake, as well as expansive grass lawns and even a grove that was originally built as a horse racetrack. Today Castle Hill serves as a cidery, and pays tribute to its long history by fermenting its cider in the oldest known fermentation vessels in the world.

Castle Hill Cider Big Pippin is a golden honey-colored sparkling hard cider, made from a blend of Albemarle Pippin and Sweet Stayman apples that are infused with ginger and bourbon. The effervescent, fuzzy texture of the cider is further exaggerated with the explosive and piquant flavor of ginger. What starts with a mouthful of bubbly and tart citrus, the powerful and luxurious cider finishes with the spicy and tannic aftertaste, creating a complex combination of flavors that would pair extremely well with spicy Asian cuisine.
