Crush It This Cider Season with These 5 Events

by | Oct 23, 2017

Get out the November calendar and jot down these dates for (additional) cider drinking.

Franklin County CiderDays | Franklin County, MA | November 3-5
This year’s CiderDays marks 23 years of tradition and celebration of all things apple in Franklin County. Over three days, festivalgoers can choose from guided cider, mead and perry tastings, apple-themed cooking demonstrations and illuminating discussions about the state of cider in the U.S., as well as tastings and workshops on cidermaking traditions worldwide. Many events are free, and include kid-friendly activities. Expect lots of apple and even more fun.

Hard Core Cider Tour | San Diego, CA | November 4
The name says it all!: the Hard Core Cider Tour is on a mission to give the long lost art of craft cider its proper due. Come prepared for unlimited two-ounce tastings courtesy of some of the world’s finest craft makers, and a feel-good live performance from Revival Brass Band. Go by bike to take advantage of free bike valet parking. A portion of the funds raised from the festival will be donated to the San Diego Mountain Biking Association.

Cider Week Virginia | Virginia | November 10-19
Thought most days of the year in Virginia are for lovers, the second week in November is all for the love of cider. Over nine days all across the state, “variety” is the choice word Virginians and visitors alike — choose from any number of pubs and restaurants for gastronomic delights paired with new and vintage releases of some of Virginia’s most celebrated ciders.

The Core Pour | Santa Paula, CA | November 11
There’s nothing like autumn in the California countryside. Take leave from the city and head up to Santa Paula (an hour northwest of Los Angeles) for an easy time and a crisp hard cider. Part music festival and cider celebration, The Core Pour offers attendees a chance stroll down the “tasting walk” and to sample cider — plus beer and spirits — from local producers. Live music from an eclectic mix of local musicians is the cherry on top.

Txotxfest | Durham, NC | November 18
Experience a different destination with each sip of cider at this year’s Txotxfest. Durham’s Black Twig Ciderhouse offers a variety of ciders from France, Spain and Great Britain, in addition to states across the nation. Pick up a few bottles to take home, but definitely sit and stay a while if a meat-forward five-course dinner with cider pairing sounds good.
