Cherry, Cherry, Baby

by | Oct 5, 2015

It’s no secret that we are enthusiastic about apples, considering they contribute to some pretty glorious beverages. But our devotion to said beverages is why the cider connoisseur inside of us has got to be real with you—the glory of cider isn’t always dependent on the apple.

Fellow cider fans, allow us to introduce you to the cherry, a fruit making some serious cider headway. From bittersweet to floral and everything in between (but don’t even think about cherry medicine flavor), these cherry ciders are setting about to changing the course of cider history.

Cheeky CherryWoodchuck Hard Cider || Middlebury, VT
ABV: 5.5%
This Northeast cidery is known for its dedication to producing unique cider spinoffs, and Cheeky Cherry—among the company’s “out on a limb” flavors Chocolate Raspberry and Lazy Hazy Lemon Crazy—is one of their most fun creations. Sweet juice and sour cherries combined with bittersweet cider apple varieties makes for a complementary, lightly carbonated cider break.

Cherried Away2 Towns Ciderhouse || Corvallis, OR
ABV: 6.0%
Whilst sippin’ on a fusion of locally sourced apples, sour cherries and whole hibiscus blossoms, it’s easy to get “cherried away” by this cider. The good news is, you’ll be whisked away to floral-infused island bliss. The bad news is, you can only do so seasonally, so stay alert for the next release.

The Village TartNoble Cider || Asheville, NC
ABV: 7.5%
This North Carolinian creation will certainly bring a little southern hospitality to your cider palate. At 7.5% ABV, The Village Tart packs a tart Montmorency cherry punch that is sure to brighten your day with a crisp sweetness that is perfect for fall.

Tart CherryWildCraft Cider Works || Eugene, OR
ABV: 6.9%
Tart Cherry isn’t just cherry to the taste—it’s a promising shade of pink all over, due to the handpicked lower Willamette Valley sweet and sour varietals that go into it. We have a feeling you may just want to find out what’s behind WildCraft Cider Works and their mission of unpasteurized and bottle conditioned ciders that taste just as yummy as they look.

Sparkling Black CherryRed Branch Cider Company || Sunnyvale, CA
ABV: 6.9%
This sinful sparkler fosters a delicate dynamic of sweet and tart. Made with apple and honey cider with cherry juice, this cider is so deliciously different that even the cidermakers were baffled at first…until it became the most popular creation of the cidery.
