Apple Knocker Hard Ciders come out of Owl Creek Vineyard in Cobden, Illinois, and are the first ciders to come out of the Shawnee Hills region. Brad Genung, the force behind Apple Knocker, is the founder and lead cidermaker. Utilizing winemaking techniques as inspiration, this cider strikes an innovate chord in the artisanal craft beverage scene. They currently offer three different ciders, varying from a straight-up sweet scrumpy to a cider fermented in American oak barrels with Belgian yeast, as well as some seasonal mixes. Apple Knocker Bad Apple is a goldenrod glass of tartly tasting cider. This moderately carbonated scrumpy is refreshing on the palate. The flavor from green apple zings across the tongue transitioning from tart to a subtle, sweet finish.
