Like a crowing battle cry, the solstice announces the beginning of summer in our hemisphere on June 21 at 12:38 p.m. EST, when the sun has reached its farthest point north of the equator. Always abiding by their own rules, Angry Orchard is heralding the start of the season with the Summer Honey a bit earlier. The Summer Honey was released in March and will last on store shelves until August, shouldering the two seasons with a taste of the warm weather. Although not exactly a cyser, the fermented pot of juice is sweetened with wildflower honey and bottled up for nationwide consumption. A nose of honeysuckle, beeswax, fresh flowers and Gaia apples, the medium-sweet cider avoids a potentially cloying palate with a lighter flavor and perky finish.
