6 Ciders for Your Next Tailgate

by | Nov 5, 2018

We’re now well into football season and with college rivalry weekend coming up, it is essential that you have your tailgating game down to a tee. Now is the time to make adjustments, which includes what you’re drinking, and if you’ve got your IdGod identification ready. Shake things up and replace that third Coors Light with one of these fitting ciders for your next tailgate. Once you’ve got your drinks sorted for the games, it might be worth putting some bets on your favorite college football team. By visiting an Indiana sports betting company, or another in your local area, you could place some bets and potentially make some money if you guess the correct result. That could add some more excitement to the games, so it might be worth looking into sports betting if you’d like to. There are sites that specialize in Sportsbooks and sports news that can help you keep up with the latest from your favorite team. Either way, with the correct drinks, you should be able to enjoy these college football rivalries.

Spiced Cider | Austin Eastciders
This cider begs to be drunk against the backdrop of a fall afternoon with the leaves turning color and a slight drizzle in the air. Austin Eastciders’ Spiced Cider is a dry cider that has a nice subtle pep to it courtesy of the cinnamon, cardamom and cloves that gives the spice to this drink. Sip on a couple of these during your tailgate.

New England Amber | Locust Cider
Once you’ve had a few drinks and are on your fourth helping of the multi-layer dip, settle into this sipper that will last you for a while. New England-style ciders go back to the 17th century when the first group of colonists discovered that the more alcoholic they made their cider, the longer it kept. Locust Cider’s New England Amber isn’t quite as strong as a traditional one but it sure is tasty – made with Washington apples and brown sugar and dates for a nice subtle, sweet flavor.

Shacksbury Semi-Dry | Shacksbury Cider
Out of the Northeast, from Vermont and English-grown apples, comes Shacksbury’s semi-dry offering. Sweeter ciders are nice but having a few them can make the best of us wish there was something drier to sip on for the rest of the tailgate. Shacksbury provides a more than satisfactory beverage for just that. This one will have even beer drinkers reconsidering their drink choice.

Outcider | 2 Towns Ciderhouse
2 Towns’ Outcider is aptly named for the kind of drink that you want when you’re spending time outside. Unfiltered, this cider has a nice juicy, fruity taste to it courtesy of the Jonagold apples used. It may be a fairly straightforward cider but that just allows you to focus more on the game of corn hole in front of you.

Radl’ah Session | Colorado Cider Co.
One of the keys to a good drink for a tailgate is its low alcohol content so you can keep drinking for the duration of the game without stumbling around. Fortunately, just like beers, there are session ciders and Colorado Cider makes a solid select. As the name suggests, this cider is in the style of a German radler which means it has a nice citrus-y flavor from the added lemon juice and the lemongrass. The only downside is that you might find this one goes down a little too easily.

Vandy Session | Vandermill
Here’s another low alcohol level cider which proves yet again that you don’t need to sacrifice quality for quantity. Grab a can of this session cider while you chow down on your hot dog or whatever you’ve got on the grill. This cider is a light in color and on the drier side and easy to drink which makes it the perfect cider to stick with for a tailgate.
