Cider Has Sprung in Spring

With snowy days and gloomy skies starting to slowly drift away, the time for spring cider festivals is just around the corner. Celebrate what the cider world is doing and the sunshine-filled skies that are just around the corner.

Cider Rite of Spring | March 25 | $25-40
Join the cider-loving residents of Portland, Oregon, to taste the best of the Northwest cider between bites of complimentary cheese and pairings or bites of fresh sushi that will be sold at the the historic Evergreen PDX event space. For connoisseurs and newbies alike, have the opportunity to taste more than 100 ciders from 30 producers, all from different areas of the PNW, for a one-on-one cider experience.

Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition (GLINTCAP) | April 12-22
Known as one of the world’s largest and most respected cider judging competitions, this competition is ideal for both commercial producers and cidermaking amateurs alike. If you think you have what it takes to win a bronze, silver or even gold medal, submit a cider at this international competition by March 31 for a chance to compete. The submission fee for the commercial division rings in at $60 per entry while noncommercial is a $20 per entry. Watch the GLINTCAP calendar for events happening around it in the host town of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Hood River Hard Pressed Cider Fest | April 22 | $10-20
Sip on over over 50 regional and national ciders while listening to bands throughout the day. Snack on bites of food from local vendors for a day dedicated to the fun side of cider. An ode to the booming Columbia Gorge cider scene, the Hood River, Oregon, cider fest encourages folks to bring families and friends of all ages for a day of fun complete with a bouncy house and a kids’ play area.

Cider Summit San Francisco | April 22 | $35-50
It is all about apples at the region’s largest cider festival, embracing traditional and new cider styles and flavors from all over the world, largely highlighting what is coming out of home state California. In addition to over 200 selections of ciders from five different countries, indulge in the new addition of cider cocktails and apple spirits and nibble on snacks made to perfectly with the cider of your choice.
