Featuring organic gin and an aromatic dry-hopped New England cider, the Anoche Spritz is a love letter to beverage traditions of the Northeast United States and Spain — and a nod to Anoche Cider & Spirits founder Erika Colby’s background in the beer industry. “[It’s] simple as hell and so refreshing,” Colby says of the flagship and best-selling cocktail at her Baque-inspired cider bar and small-plate tavern in Portland, Maine. “It pairs perfectly with anything super savory, salty and fatty,” she advises, including jamón Iberico or Anoche’s house-marinated anchovy-stuffed olives. Plan a trip to visit the dreamy Anoche in southern Maine or craft an Anoche Spritz at home with this recipe:
Makes 1 Cocktail
- Build in 17 oz glass, such as a Bormioli Rocco Bodega Maxi, filled with ice
- Add 1 oz Aperol
- Add 1 oz Prairie Organic Gin
- Top with a dry-hopped New England cider such as Shacksbury Dry-Hopped Arlo or Stowe Safety Meeting
- Stir, then express an orange twist over the glass and use it as garnish
