Springtime Events Made for Cider

by | Mar 12, 2018

Something about April showers leading to May flowers, here’s a handful of cider-focused affairs to add to your calendar during this potentially soggy yet floral season.

Hopped Cider Fest | Portland, OR | April 14
The details are still coming together but Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider is holding its fifth annual hopped cider festival. The festival will feature over 24 hopped ciders from around the nation, many of which are not available in the greater Pacific Northwest region where the festival will go down, so take advantage of these exclusive offerings. Rev. Nat’s is known for its wild flavors, and with “Hallelujah Hopricot” as a flagship. So hop on over to the Portland taproom for a taste of the country’s hoppiest.

Spring Invitational: Virginia Cider Jam | Richmond, VA | April 28
Last year Virginia cider fans celebrated the magic of hops and this year for the springtime festival, it’s all about berries. The event is hosted by Blue Bee Cider and six other cideries will also be in attendance with their best berries. There will be berry-flavored eats and treats from local producers. Don’t miss a pour from Blue Bee’s Fanfare mulberry cider, which hasn’t been produced in three years, and learn a lesson or two about the cider industry, flavor profiling and berry-infused cider production at The Grand Tasting workshop.

BC Ciderweek | Greater British Columbia | April 28 to May 7
Cider is taking over British Columbia and bringing tried and true apple flavors everywhere from Kelowna to Vancouver for the fourth annual British Columbia Ciderweek. Kicking off the week is The Bacon and Cider Festival in Kelowna while special events, pairing dinners and tap takeovers will make up the 10 day affair. Join Wards Cider‘s Okanagan Festival and Snakebite Festival for mid-week celebrations, Sea Cider will return with their cider social and the second annual BC Cider Festival will wrap things up (details below).

Cidre du Québec | Throughout Québec | April 30 to May 6
After last year’s success, the second edition of Québec’s cider week returns this spring. From local cideries to bars and grocery stores, cider will be streaming the streets of the province. Details are still be finalized so be sure to mark you calendar and return to the website for specifics.

BC Cider Fest | Vancouver, BC | May 6
BC Cider Fest will cap off all the excitement of BC Ciderweek for one last cider blowout. Spend the afternoon tasting craft cider from over 20 BC-born and Pacific Northwest cideries. The event will be held at The Pipe Shop in the historic Shipyards on the beautiful North Vancouver waterfront.
