April showers bring May cider celebrations. That’s how the saying goes, right? With summer just around the corner, the month of May is preparing us for cider’s drinking biggest season. From the East Coast to the West, and the Rocky Mountains in between, cities everywhere are celebrating cider.
Central Coast Cider Festival | May 13 | $55-65
After last year’s sold out event, the Central Coast Cider Festival is back with more flavor, food and fun. With a dozen of California’s favorite cideries in attendance, guests can choose from over 75 ciders, each with their own unique twist on the traditional taste. Find the perfect cider to pair with the English pig roast dinner by Chef Jerry Scott of Vineyard Events and top off the night by getting down on the dance floor to Central Coast’s very own, Erin & The Earthquakes.
Cider Week Colorado | May 22-29 | Prices vary
We should all do as the Colorado folk do and celebrate cider for a week. At the second annual Cider Week Colorado, cidermakers and enthusiasts alike gather to sip from some of the best cider in the C-O. Kick off the festivities at the state’s newest cidery, St. Vrain, to prepare for the much-anticipated Pressed Conference.
The Pressed Conference | May 27 | $40
Known as the largest celebration of cideries in Colorado, the Pressed Conference hosts over a dozen craft cideries to bring tasters a variety of savory sips. Throw back your cider with some grub from one of the food trucks while grooving to the live music. And if that’s not enough, guests are greeted with a complimentary glass of cider at the door.
Ontario Craft Cider Week | May 26-June 4 | Prices vary
Ontario is paying homage to the first libation produced in North America by bringing together the province’s best cideries. With over 100 ciders on tap, 25 producers will have a variety of tipples to try. We know that sounds a bit overwhelming, but don’t worry, it’s a nine-day celebration for a reason — so you have the chance to try ’em all.
Appleseed Cider Festival | June 3, 18, 24 | $20-$30 CAD
If you can’t catch the Ontario Craft Cider Week, you still have a chance to celebrate at the Appleseed Cider Festival across the province in Toronto, Stratford and London. With over 25 ciders and a selection of food trucks, you can mix, match and munch your way through the night at multiple locations like a museum or historic barn. And don’t forget your souvenir: the first 500 guests get to take home an Appleseed glass.
