On Saturday, August 24 Santa Cruz Cider Company will open the doors of its first ever tasting room, Apple City Cider Tasting Room by Santa Cruz Cider Company.
For the past six years Santa Cruz Cider Company has been making delicious hard cider from apples grown right here in Santa Cruz County. Since its earliest days, Santa Cruz Cider Company fans have been eager for a tasting room and on August 24 they will finally get their wish.
Located in Watsonville, California, the Apple City Cider Tasting Room pays homage to the deep apple roots of the local community. 100 years ago Watsonville was the number one grower and seller of apples in the world, which earned it the nickname “The Apple City”. The Santa Cruz Cider Company owners are proud to carry on this rich local history and share their ciders made from Pajaro Valley apples.
The Grand Opening of the new tasting room will take place on Saturday, August 24 from noon to 8pm at 65 Hangar Way (next to Elkhorn Slough Brewing). It will feature a full line up of Santa Cruz Cider Company ciders to be enjoyed as a flight or by the glass. Bottles and cans will also be available for purchase. Attendees can enjoy food provided by Killer Chef as well as live music.
The whole Santa Cruz Cider Company family will be present at the Grand Opening, and it truly is a family affair. Husband and wife Nicole and Felix Todd started making cider in 2011 with a truckload of found apples. In 2013, Nicole partnered up with her sister Natalie Henze to form Santa Cruz Cider Company. Now the sisters run the business while Felix helps with cider production and Natalie’s husband, Justin, makes everything from the tap handles to the new bar. Natalie and Justin’s son Miles even lends a hand by posing for cute pictures in the orchard.
Locally grown, hand made, and family-run, the Apple City Cider Tasting Room by Santa Cruz Cider Company is sure to be an outstanding addition to the Watsonville landscape.
