Review: La Familia Hard Cider Jamaica Hibiscus

by | Oct 9, 2018

Oregon’s first Latino-owned cidery, La Familia Hard Cider launched on Cinco de Mayo in 2017. Since then the family-run cidery has been producing flavorful, fruit ciders inspired by traditional Mexican aguas frescas, the fruity juices regularly consumed around the dinner table in Mexico. The Jamaica — pronounced ha-my-kah — Hibiscus cider takes the floral tartness of the plant to a fresh-pressed apple base, cranberry-red in color with tart aromatics to match. A semisweet and floral palate ties ripe berry fruit flavors to smacking acidity for a cider that would be as good for upcoming American holidays as it would be next to a plate of carnitas.
