Courthouse Creek Cider Opens Second Tasting Room

Courthouse Creek Cider has opened its second tasting room in the City of Richmond. This new location is an extension of the Goochland-based farm cidery founded by Eric and Liza Cioffi in 2016.

“We began serious discussions about opening a remote tasting room last year,” Eric Cioffi said. “With continued growth in Richmond’s beverage scene, it made good sense to explore this area.”

The Cioffis are one of the first tenants to open in the newly renovated leather warehouse, the Highpoint, in Richmond’s historic Scott’s Addition district.

An upstairs cider garden complements the tasting room and outdoor patio on the lower level. In addition to eight taps, bottled cider will also be available. All production will remain on the couple’s farm in Maidens, Virginia.

Furnishings and decor add personal touches to the space. Liza Coiffi’s father, Bruce Gordon, handcrafted all of the bars and tables to create seating for approximately 80 patrons. Murals adorning the second floor and building exterior are the work of local artist Nico Cathcart.

“The space also includes an active beehive, pictures of our family farm, and an old apple press from the 1800s–used by Liza’s family when they lived in Idaho, and lovingly restored by her father,” Eric Cioffi said.

Additionally, the Highpoint houses an 1,800 square foot event space and a full commercial kitchen that can be rented by tenants.  The tasting room will be available for private events and is located at 3300 W. Broad St., Richmond, VA 23220.
