Cider Week Hudson Valley Returns with a Focus on Farms and Orchards

With an orchard-focused bike tour, an IRL @CiderFood photo exhibit, and a Father’s Day pig roast, the 8th annual Cider Week Hudson Valley offers new ways to appreciate cider on the farms where it is made, as well as at numerous bars, restaurants, shops and markets committed to celebrating the region’s cider for the festival’s duration, from Friday, June 8 through Sunday, June 17.

Cider Week Hudson Valley’s mission is to connect the region’s cider makers and apple growers to craft beverage enthusiasts and farm-to-table seekers through a variety of coordinated, beverage-focused events and orchard-based interactions.

Participating cider makers include: Angry Orchard Innovation Cider House (Walden), Brooklyn Cider House (New Paltz), Doc’s Draft Hard Cider (Warwick), Graft Cider (Newburgh), Hardscrabble Cider (North Salem), Kettleborough Cider House (New Paltz), Kings Highway Fine Cider (Millbrook), Little Apple Cidery (Hillsdale), Metal House Cider (Esopus), Naked Flock Hard Cider (Warwick), Nine Pin Cider Works (Albany), Orchard Hill Cider Mill (New Hampton), Pennings Farm Cidery (Warwick), Slyboro Cider House (Granville), South Bridge Cider (Hudson), Treasury Cider (Hopewell Junction), Wayside Cider (Andes), and Westwind Orchard.

Destination Ciders of the Hudson Valley

Returning this year is the Destination Ciders of the Hudson Valley concept, representing the vanguard of Hudson Valley cider production and an expression of a collective vision for Ciders of the Hudson Valley. Limited edition ciders made from 100% New York State apples will be available only from their makers and at a Cider Week Hudson Valley kickoff event on Saturday, June 9th at Angry Orchard’s Walden Cider House. These bottles and barrels celebrate creativity, apple versatility, and cider’s potential to be the signature beverage of the Hudson Valley.

Events take place at orchards, bars, restaurants and shops from the lower Hudson Valley, through the Capital Region, all the way up to Washington County, on the east and west sides of the Hudson River. DESTINATION CIDERS SHOWCASE AND SPREE

Angry Orchard Innovation Ciderhouse, Walden, NY

Live music, an @ciderfood photo exhibit, street food and special-release ciders from over a dozen local cider makers available only here and at the cideries where they are made, in addition to barrel room tours and that famous treehouse.

CIDER BICYCLE TOURS

Little Apple Cidery, Hillsdale, NY

The “Tour de Hillsdale” consists of self guided loops from the cidery and a free cider tastings; the planned routes are easy (6 miles), moderate (8 miles) and energetic (17 miles). Free, and no pre-registration required.

FARM DINNER WITH CIDER

Glynwood, Cold Spring, NY

Cider Week founders Glynwood host a dinner on the farm’s lake, featuring fresh, local and regeneratively grown food prepared by Alex Burger, Executive Chef at The Amsterdam in Rhinebeck, and an Angry Orchard hard cider bar. $75; tickets available online.

TASTING PARTY, PIG ROAST & MARKET

Brooklyn Cider House at Twin Star Orchard, New Paltz, NY

Celebrate Father’s Day in the orchard while you treat yourself to suckling pig, wood-fired pizza, and cider from more than 10 Hudson Valley cideries at the third annual Cider Week Hudson Valley closeout blowout. Pay-as-you-go.
