Part of the “Heritage Variety 4-Pack” released for Virginia Cider Week in November, this Harrison Single Varietal from Buskey Cider might be the first of its kind in can. The Harrison apple — one of the most famous varieties of the 18th century and thought to be extinct until it was rediscovered in 1976 at a New Jersey cider mill — is now seeing a revival in Virginia with producers like Buskey, Blue Bee Cider, Albemarle Ciderworks and more, with arguably its first foray into aluminum here.
Buskey’s take on the varietal solo in a can is bright and bouncy, with creamy yet sprightly apple butter notes on the nose, green apple and jasmine tea rounding out the aromatics. Tart apple flavors finish dry and cleansing, balancing with gentle acid that causes salivation without hurting your teeth.
