Limited-edition cider celebrates 10 years of multiplatinum Strange Trails album
LOS ANGELES (April 8, 2025) – California craft pioneers Benny Boy Brewing and indie rock band Lord Huron have partnered to create Meet Me in the Woods, a spruce tip heritage cider inspired by the woodland wanderlust of the band’s acclaimed Strange Trails album on its 10th anniversary. Meet Me in the Woods debuts today at a Lord Huron concert in Benny Boy Brewing’s Backyard beer and cider garden.
This collaboration marks a first for the award-winning Los Angeles brewery and cidery known for its approachable and sessionable, dry California cider made with farm-fresh quality ingredients. For the band, it follows the release of its two recent singles: “Who Laughs Last? (feat. Kristen Stewart)” and “Nothing I Need.” Lord Huron frontman Ben Schneider worked closely with Benny Boy Brewing on design and development to bring this partnership to life.
Meet Me in the Woods translates the album’s lore and lush notes into a crisp sparkling cider that ventures on a journey through the mystical forest of fermentation. California Newtown Pippin and Black Twig heritage cider apples combine in a balance of natural sweetness and acidity, steeped in sustainably wild-harvested spruce tips for a piney, woodsy character. Natural carbonation and zero filtration enhance the overall flavor profile with complexity, a smooth mouthfeel, and a clean, fresh finish.
The label, designed by Darn Good Design Co., showcases an alluring woodland scene with an elusive figure leading the way through a tunnel of twisted branches and into a bright light.
“We had fun crafting a cider with notes as adventurous as the music that inspired it,” said Benny Boy Brewing Co-Founder Benny Farber. “To truly capture the essence of Strange Trails in this cider, we played the album on repeat during bottling, so every sip tells a story.”
“It was an interesting challenge, trying to translate the themes and vibes of this record into a beverage. But these guys really did it; it tastes earthy, crisp yet somehow obscure, and a little spooky,” said Lord Huron’s Ben Schneider.
In addition to in-person at the brewery and cidery, the 7.7% ABV spruce tip heritage cider ($45, 750mL) will be available for purchase through Benny Boy Brewing’s online bottle shop beginning Wednesday, April 9 for nationwide shipping and on the road with Lord Huron’s sold-out Strange Trails – 10th Anniversary Tour in May.
“Our urban Backyard provides common ground, bringing people together with craft beverages, pop-up vendors, music, and engaging events,” continued Benny Boy Brewing Co-Founder Chelsey Rosetter. “We love creating new experiences for our guests that contribute to a sense of community, and we’re excited to expand our reach with our Meet Me in the Woods alongside Lord Huron’s tour.”
