Founded in 2013 by childhood best friends Chris Noll and Adam Gerrits, Brickworks Ciderhouse is a small-batch cidery operating out of Toronto, Ontario. A process of slow fermenting 100-percent Ontario apples and a mission to “give back” helps to define Brickworks’ ciders. Through their fruit tree project, Not Far From the Tree, the cidermakers enable Torontonians to harvest and share the fruits from their orchard, encouraging a nature-friendly mindset and a healthy, fruit-filled palate. Their ciders are equally inspiring, each crafted with a historical element of the Toronto homeland in mind, from the Great Toronto Fire to the 501 Streetcar to the newest addition, Stadium Island.
The Stadium Island Peach shares the story of the “lost but not forgotten” for sippers, starting with Babe Ruth’s first professional homerun in Toronto in 1914 and ending with the late 375,000 peach trees that once habituated the province. A golden-hued pour offers a whirlwind of history and a mouthful of aromatic, juicy Ontario peaches melding with hints of red apple. This one might just remind you of another realm of history—those addicting childhood peach rings; sweet yet tart, and impossible to set down.
