Cider Week Finger Lakes Goes Hybrid with both Virtual and In-Person Events

by | Sep 17, 2020

The New York Cider Association continues to make safety the main priority by announcing this year’s Cider Week Finger Lakes will be a mix of both virtual and socially distanced in-person events. The festival will run from Friday, October 2 – Sunday, October 11, 2020. The schedule will include a full ten days of cider tastings, orchard tours, chef and cider pairings, panel conversations, and more presented either in-person where social distancing is possible or on-line via YouTube at New York Cider Association TV. Registration for the overall festival is FREE. To register for the festival and for more information about specific events, visit www.ciderweekflx.com.

“Cider Week Finger Lakes is known for creating connections across the region between cider makers and apple growers to craft beverage and farm-to-table enthusiasts. As we continue to make sure everyone stays safe and healthy, we’re looking forward to a much needed safe and socially distanced celebration over cider,” says Scott Ramsey, Executive Director of the New York Cider Association.

As a presenting sponsor, Glynwood’s Director of Regional Food Programming, Megan Larmer, says, “Glynwood is proud of its continuing support of the New York Cider Association and Cider Weeks across New York. We’re looking forward to seeing what’s possible with this hybrid version of Cider Week Finger Lakes 2020, and excited for both in-person and online experiences that bring you closer to our iconic orchards and the world class cider they produce!”

Although the festival is free, donations will be accepted. Most importantly, the New York Cider Association is donating 20% of proceeds donated to the Restaurant Workers Community Foundation focused on Covid-19 relief and issues of Social Justice. For more information on how to donate, please visit www.ciderweekflx.com.

Participating cideries include Black Diamond Cider (Trumansburg), Eve’s Cidery (Van Etten), Kite & String Cider (Interlaken), Lake Drum Brewing (Geneva), New York Cider Company (Ithaca), Redbyrd Orchard Cider (Burdett), Rootstock Ciderworks (Williamson), and South Hill Cider (Ithaca).
