In the era of COVID-19 and social distancing, craft cider companies, along with the rest of the food and beverage industry, have been forced to adapt to new health and safety standards. Although LGBTQ+ Pride events around the world have been canceled or postponed, the spirit of pride certainly doesn’t have to be. Here are five ciders you can sip on in support of the LGBTQ+ community while celebrating Pride Month at home. Be sure to check each company’s website for details on how they’re following public health recommendations and distributing their product to customers.
District Pride Rosé by Lake City Cider
Canned in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, the District Pride Rosé from Lake City Cider is the official cider of the Halifax Pride Festival – the largest annual pride celebration in Canada. This semi-sweet cider may come off a little sweeter, knowing that it supports a great cause. District Pride Rosé marries the complementary flavors of the region – crisp apples from Nova Scotia and tart berries from Oxford – into one delicious cider.
Unicorn Fuel by Bryant’s Cider
Quench your thirst all while supporting a great cause. With the purchase of Unicorn Fuel from Virginia-based Bryant’s Cider, customers can add a donation – as well as buy pride-themed stickers – to support Side by Side, an LGBTQ nonprofit. This smooth-tasting brut cider will leave a refreshing taste and aromas of rose hips and hibiscus on your palate.
Pride Pack by Ernest Cider Co.
For the third year in a row, Canada’s first cidery to be B-Corp Certified and Bullfrog Powered, Ernest Cider Co., is celebrating Pride with a 24-pack featuring five different ciders. Fans of the well-known Cidre Blanc need not worry: this is the same crisp and refreshing cider you know and love, just with a jazzy new outfit of a can lined with rainbow. Available online this Friday, ANXO can ship Cidre Blanc Pride to over 40 states with $1 from every 4-pack sold going to Casa Ruby, DC’s only organization founded and led by transgender women of color.
Rainbow Seeker by Blake’s Hard Cider Co.
Slip into a pineapple paradise with Rainbow Seeker, a semi-sweet cider with a tropical blend of pineapple and sage. Released by Blake’s Hard Cider Co. in support of the LGBTQ community, all profits from the sale of Rainbow Seeker go directly to the LGBTQ National Hotline. For generations, the family-owned, Michigan-based cidery has harnessed the authentic taste and flavor profile of Michigan apples to create their craft ciders.
