C Squared Ciders, a Denver, CO-based independent craft cidery announced the release of Cousteau, the first cider from their high end and barrel-aged Sailor Series. Cousteau is a French American Hybrid Cider made with Newtown Pippin and French Bittersweet apples. A mixed culture fermentation, including wild yeast strains, was slowly fermented and aged in American and French Oak for over 7 months.

Cousteau is crisp, tart, and dry from the bittersweet apples, with aromas of stone fruit and a hint of toasted oak.  At 6.9% ABV and only 6g of residual sugar per liter, Cousteau will stand alone or pair perfectly with any meal.  Packaged in 500mL bottles with only 500 total cases available, Cousteau will debut for purchase exclusively at C Squared Ciders at 4:00 p.m. on Black Friday, November 24th. The release party will go long into the evening at their on-site tasting room, the Rackhouse.  Bottles will be available at select liquor stores throughout Colorado and Minnesota the following week, and on draft at select accounts only in Colorado.

Since July 2015, C Squared has been producing and distributing their award-winning Siren Series, which are American style ciders with an emphasis on balance and drinkability.  “The Sirens were developed with the intention of appealing to a wide array of craft drinkers, whereas the Sailor Series will fit the demand for a more esoteric and boutique category of cider,” says Sales Manager, Eric Hatlestad.

Future ciders from the Sailor Series will only be released when properly aged and at the height of perfection. Each Sailor Series offering will be stylized by country of origin and are an ode to different apples, yeasts, wood, and ciders from around the world that inspire C Squared Ciders’ makers.
