Bold Rock Hard Cider to Expand Distribution to Georgia in August

by | Jul 13, 2016

Bold Rock Hard Cider has announced plans to begin selling its award winning craft cider in Georgia on August 1. The award-winning regional craft cidery’s variety of hard cider styles can currently be found across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast from Pennsylvania through South Carolina, including Tennessee. The expansion into Georgia comes via Atlanta Beverage Company, Eagle Rock Distributing Company, and Leon Farmer & Company.

“Eagle Rock Distributing Co. is excited to partner with award-winning company Bold Rock Hard Cider,” says Eagle Rock’s President, Nick Economos. “Their passion and quality products are obvious and we look forward to bringing them to the consumers of Atlanta.”

Bold Rock makes craft cider from apples locally picked in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and North Carolina. The cidery offers a variety of award-winning styles, including the popular flagship ciders Apple and Draft, as well as Pear Cider and the dry-hopped IPA — India Pressed Apple. In August Bold Rock will also release the new seasonal Peach Cider.

“We are eager to launch our craft cider to consumers in Atlanta and Athens,” says Jeff Liebhardt, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing for Bold Rock Hard Cider. “We have selected great partners in Atlanta Beverage Company, Eagle Rock Distributing Company, and Leon Farmer & Company. We plan to complete the state footprint by November 1.”

Bold Rock was founded in 2012 by partners John Washburn and Brian Shanks. Washburn owned a scenic piece of farmland in Nellysford, Va. and he contacted Shanks to see if the New Zealand native and world-renowned cider expert with more than three decades of experience in the industry would be interested in working his magic with locally picked apples. The two fast friends have since put together a rapidly growing operation, turning Bold Rock into the largest independently owned craft cidery in the United States.

In addition to Bold Rock’s original Virginia-based Cider Barn, which features a rustically elegant taproom and scenic surrounding views, the craft cidery also operates a second production facility and taproom in North Carolina, near Asheville in the town of Mills River, utilizing the abundance of premium apples grown in the state’s western mountains.

In Georgia, Bold Rock will be available on tap at select bars and restaurants and at retail outlets in bottles and cans. More information is available at boldrock.com.
