Shaking Up Cider Cocktails with Darlene Hayes

Join Darlene Hayes, author of Cider Cocktails – Another Bite of the Apple and Cidercraft Publisher, Kristin Ackerman Bacon as they show you how to whip up 3 simple but elegant cider cocktails perfect for your upcoming New Year’s Eve celebration.

These are the 3 featured libations and ingredients and wares you’ll need for this fun cocktail tutorial!

Kir Normande (Glassware: Champagne Flute)

  • very dry sparkling cider
  • sugar cubes
  • Cassis
  • 1 lemon

*Optional Angostura Bitters

Fence Line (Glassware: Rocks Glass)

  • dry sparkling cider
  • rum or whiskey
  • spiced simple syrup (see below to make ahead of time)
  • 1 orange

Spiced Simple Syrup

Place 1/2 cup of sugar in a pot with 1/4 cup of water, 2 cinnamon sticks, 6 whole cardamom pods, and 2 whole star anise. Bring to a simmer, then turn off the heat, cover, and let the spices steep for an hour. Strain.
