TC Cider Week
October 14, 2017 - October 21, 2017Prices may vary
As the Michigan cider industry continues to grow at an exciting yet rapid pace, a group of Michigan Cider makers felt the time was right to establish an organization that supports education, research, and promotion of the emerging industry. In December 2014, the Michigan Cider Association (MCA) was formed by this group of Michigan cider makers through a state-recognized 501(c)6 program. Although the MCA is a new organization, its intention is to provide short and long-term significance and value to all members through the promotion and support of Michigan cider.
The MCA is hosting the 2nd annual Cider and Sausage Salon on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 1PM – 5PM, at Timber Ridge Resort, at 4050 E Hammond Rd, Traverse City, MI 49686. Our event will feature live entertainment, locally made sausages and will showcase Michigan’s premiere ciders and cider makers. In the past, we have held our cider week in conjunction with the TC Brew Fest, but we think the time is right to head out on our own – at a new location. This new venue is going to be perfect for a fall event. We have access to a huge grill, outside tent area, firepits, outside games, and the Lions game on the big screen. We already have seven sausage makers signed up for the event—likely we will have more signing up as the word gets out! Our goal is to bring the community together to enjoy an evening of entertainment, food and good cider! Tickets are available at https://mynorthtickets.com/ $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
For this year’s TC Cider Week, we are introducing Traverse City Cider Week Orchard Tours and Cider Tasting; this event will be open to the public and a main focus of this year’s TC Cider Week. This event will be held October 21, 2017 from 1-4PM at the Northwest Michigan Horticultural Research Center (NWMHRC) in Traverse City. The MCA plans to feature wagon tours of the cider blocks at the NWMHRC and end the day with a formal cider tasting in the conference room at the NWMHRC. We want to encourage the public to get out into the orchards to see where the start of cider begins. The event will include orchard tour rides, information on cider fruit, cider apple tastings, and a cider tasting that will feature key styles of cider. Tickets are available at https://mynorthtickets.com/ for $25 a person.
