Scrumpy Select: 2 Towns Ciderhouse Ginja Ninja

by | Dec 24, 2014

Three childhood buddies from two separate cities started one orchard on the banks of Oregon’s Willamette River along with one ciderhouse named 2 Towns. With nearly 700 trees planted, the ciderhouse facility also recently grew to more than 10,000-square-feet to continue the unflappable growth. Along with its sister brand, Traditions Ciderworks (a more English-style traditional cider line), 2 Towns Ciderhouse continues to pop up in retailers and restaurants nationwide, including one of their timely seasonals: Ginja Ninja. 2 Towns’ “redheaded samurai” (also known as head cider maker Dave Takush) presses four-digit poundage of fresh apples for this cider, then blends the juice with pure ginger root for a fragrant and bold sipper. The “ginja” is ceaseless—but in a pleasing spiced and spiked apple juice approach. This cider is fleshy, juicy of tart apple and red berry but the inherent kick of spice with a chop of citrus and floral tones takes this seasonal up a notch.
