The 2018 Cider Conference (CiderCon) arrives in Baltimore next week and, as it started in Chicago, the city will also hold its inaugural cider week. From Jan. 30 through Feb. 3, Cider Week Baltimore and CiderCon attendees will take over the Charm City, with more than 30 events hosted citywide. Fly in, drive in, train in: find a cider affair that could wet your whistle, here are a few to get you started.
For Tuesday, Jan. 30: Head to the closest meadery — Charm City Meadworks, to be exact — to taste a line-up of Vermont-grown and-made ciders, from Eden Specialty Cider and Shacksbury, plus Vermont distilleries Whistle Pig and Barr Hill. Party goes down from 5-11:30 p.m.
For Thursday, Feb. 1: Six different New England and New York cideries, from Graft and Doc’s Draft to Kite & String, come to Heavy Seas Alehouse in nearby Washington, DC, for this upper right coast exclusive tasting opportunity, going down 4-10 p.m.
For Friday, Feb. 2: Get more in one place at Pour the Core’s Baltimore day-long showdown at the historic B&O Railroad Museum. Locally produced and international ciders will be on display with your ticket ($50) that includes a tasting glass, sampling of over 75 different styles of cider, free festival seminars and access to the museum’s exhibits.
For Saturday, Feb. 3: Close out CiderCon and Cider Week Baltimore with the team at Angry Orchard as they host a farewell brunch at Iron Rooster from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. More details to be released here.
