2 Towns Ciderhouse Prickle Me Pink

by | Sep 23, 2015

By Erin James

Masters of the limited seasonal cider release, Corvallis, Oregon’s 2 Towns Ciderhouse is back in pink. With fresh-pressed Northwest apples for a base, the cidery juices California prickly pear, an oblong magenta indigenous cactus, into the final blend. The vibrant, brazen pink color of the cactus comes through in the look of the scrumpy, nearly florescent and glowing. The cider itself is as saucy as the color—exhibiting equally pink aromas and flavors of rhubarb, strawberry leaf, watermelon and Bartlett pear skin, accented with herbaceous hits on the fringe. If magenta had a smell, this would be it. Juicy and wildly fruit-forward up front, reminiscent of a kindred cocktail of the same name, the cider finishes surprisingly and pleasantly dry. A bit of a whirlwind, the Prickle Me Pink is altogether gratifying to the eye and palate.
